"hell to the yeah!"

to everyone who is emulating shepard fairey's obama poster...please stop unless you're either giving props to obama or the artist himself. i'm sure there's other ways to be cool with more mass appeal and less disrespect to substance.

anyways, friday night was mighty pleasant. went over to dba256 in downtown pomona with 112 and tiff for pat perez's birthday gathering. saw plenty of people i haven't seen in awhile (nim, melinda, pare, senpai, chris, bojie, romes)...and one i haven't seen in about 4 years (rachel bohrer). still recovering and still tired...it was a good way to spend a friday night out and about. by the way, a police chase ended right outside the bar and the guy got caught next to my car, preventing us from leaving early (not that we were going to if a chase didn't happen at all). it was a reminder that just because dba256 was nice...we were still in pomona haha.

i had the pleasure of attending nick's birthday party the next night. packed house filled with good friends and loved ones. had a great talk on literature with noel, rachel, and john john...i seriously need to get back into reading. 2k9 and street fighter 4 inside the house with guitar playing, cranium, poker, and black jack in the garage...everyone had something fun to do.

earlier today, i had the honor of doing the invocation for my student trevor's eagle scout court of honor. i didn't think it was going to be huge...but there i was sitting in the front row with mayor peter rogers and representatives of congressman gary miller, the chino valley fire department, and so forth. it was a great experience and i developed a greater knowledge and respect for the boy scouts. i'm most definitely proud of trevor and it's been a pleasure being his teacher.

spent some time at jojo's pizza for the kabalikat society fundraiser and then headed over to daynee's birthday dinner @ yard house in riverside. i wouldn't miss celebrating my postage stamp's birthday for the world...i apologize if you don't understand the inside joke. plenty of good laughs to go around and i'm glad to have been there.

and here i am, back at home seriously loving the fact that i don't have to venture off to yucca valley tomorrow and that i can get the "no alarm, have the phone off, and not be disturbed" kind of sleep.

a good day indeed...and a good night to all! - jl
